Grade 5-7 Playmaking • 10 weeks. Students will read, learn and perform 4 one act plays, with a focus on acting skills, characterization, ensemble work and exploring Zoom as a theatrical format. All actors will play leads and secondary characters during the course. Two of the four plays will be showcased for friends and family in Zoom performances on a weekend day/night in Oct & Nov.

This class will cover the basics of drawing, from the ground up. We'll explore our drawing materials; we'll learn how to set up a drawing and break the world into simple shapes; then move into perspective, drawing people, achieving different styles and textures, and anything else of interest. Class will be a chance for students to work on their own while sharing their creations with classmates. Materials must be purchased from Amazon before start of class and can be used for a very long time. Students will need a desk/workspace free of clutter. Class includes clean-up time.

Songwriting Workshop #2, Phil

Four students only, Grades 5-8  

Wed 4:00 – 6:00pm and Sat 10:00am-12:00pm

Students will explore songwriting basics by examining popular songs from the past and present. We'll explore where ideas come from, discuss simple song structures, and learn to write lyrics and melodies. All students will use singing as their main medium of expression; instruments are welcome but not required. Music tracks will be provided to assist in song creation. One class each week will be a group workshop, the other will be 30-minute one-on-one sessions.

Four students will spend three weeks working on Broadway songs of their choosing in a workshop/master class format that's both a private lesson and group discussion with a focus on moving through learning the song to exploring its dramatic possibilities. We're offering this class on Saturdays so students can use those mornings for preparation, although they'll spend time during the week rehearsing on their own. Each workshop ends with a 30-minute recital open to friends and family.
